The idea was brought to life by Isa Malkoc in 2010 and, with more than 500,000 users, forms the largest community in the field of halal food in German-speaking countries. HalalCheck aims to create a uniform and efficient platform for Muslim consumers under one roof. The team consists mainly of Muslim siblings who work on a voluntary basis and use their free time for the project.
No, HalalCheck does not assume the function of a Halal certifier. The products are only analyzed and classified on the basis of the manufacturer's responses. Additional checks by certifiers would be desirable and in the interest of Muslim consumers.
The product analysis team attaches great importance to personally contacting each manufacturer to request information regarding the auxiliary materials and ingredients. It can take a long time to cover most of the millions of existing products. We thus ensure that the quality of the data is and remains high. With the new update, non-existent products can now be entered by the user and forwarded to the team. These are finally requested, analyzed and published. Please note that we process the products with the highest demand and therefore the greatest need for the community first.
